Ganderbal, Oct 14: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has announced the commencement of a new infrastructure development project aimed at upgrading the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane dual carriageway along the Pandaach to Manigam section of NH1.
This expansion is a key part of the Srinagar Ring Road Phase IIA initiative in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The project, estimated at ₹435.89 crores, will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. It is expected to significantly enhance transportation efficiency in the region, catering to the growing traffic demand and improving connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The upgraded road will meet NH standards, facilitating smoother travel and bolstering economic development.
The project includes a two-year construction period, followed by a five-year maintenance period. The NHAI has invited bids from eligible contractors, with bid submissions open from October 9 to November 27, 2024. Interested parties can access detailed bid documents and submit their proposals through NHAI’s official portals.
The successful execution of this project is expected to play a critical role in improving infrastructure in the Union Territory, promoting tourism, trade, and overall regional growth.
